OMBRA

Included applications

Five tools for private communication and money. All of them through Tor.

Ombra ships the applications people reach for when they need to share a file, talk, sign a message or hold a coin without exposing who they are. Each one is preset to use the gateway, and none of them has another way out.

  1. OnionShare

File sharing and chat over onion services

Send a file, receive one, or host a page without any server in between.

  2. SimpleX Chat

Private messenger with no user identifiers

A messenger that has no accounts, no phone numbers and no usernames.

  3. Kleopatra

    OpenPGP and S/MIME certificate manager

Encrypt, sign and verify files and text with your own keys.

  4. Electrum

    Bitcoin wallet

A fast Bitcoin wallet that holds your keys and talks to the network through Tor.

  5. Feather Wallet

    Monero wallet

A light Monero wallet that connects through Tor and onion nodes.

How they are wired

The same rules for every application.

One way out

Every application reaches the network through the gateway's Tor. The desktop firewall drops anything else, so a program that ignores its proxy setting fails instead of leaking.

Onion services without a Tor on the desktop

The desktop never runs Tor itself. OnionShare publishes through a narrow broker on the gateway that allows one command on a small port range.

Nothing phones home

Update checks, crash reports and vendor data feeds are off. Every download is pinned to a hash at build time and nothing is fetched at install, boot or runtime.

In Amnesic mode nothing you create survives shutdown, including keys, wallets and chat profiles. Read the threat model before relying on any of them.
